For the resident or visitor who wants to get away from it all, the area has five national parks to explore. A trip out to the Glow Worm Tunnel along the Newnes Plateau, or a trip into the Wolgan Valley will take you into the Wollemi National Park. A trip into the Capertee Valley will take you through part of the Gardens of Stone National Park to the edge of the Wollemi National Park. Capertee Valley is a well known bird watching area with over 236 bird species identified.
